Edgar F. (Skip) Heizer, III
Skip Heizer is a seasoned entrepreneur, investor and board member who has over 35 years of experience in building healthcare, insurance, investment and energy companies. In the healthcare industry, Skip has helped build businesses focused on improving the lives of patients and doctors by more effectively delivering dental, eye care, dermatology, veterinarian, and health diagnostics services. Skip is a passionate believer in entrepreneurship and good corporate governance. Skip is liaison for The Heizer Center for Private Equity and Venture Capital at the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. Skip and his family also sponsor The Heizer Award, an annual award.issued in cooperation with The Academy of Management for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of new enterprise development. Skip also is a Board Leadership Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
Skip received a JD from Northwestern University School of Law and both a BS in Management Science Engineering and a BBA in Business from Southern Methodist University.
Scott Kalniz, DDS
Dr. Scott Kalniz has over 20 years of dental industry experience. He started his career as a practicing dentist with a single location. He then purchased a number of other dental practices, eventually selling his large dental group to a Dental Support Organization (DSO). He joined the DSO as director of development, sourcing a number of dental practice affiliations, and helping build it to over 50 locations. Dr. Kalniz then partnered with a private equity firm, as CEO and Chief Dental Officer, to create a new DSO. In under 5 years, it grew to over 110 locations in 12 states. He has also served, and currently serves, as a Director on several PE-backed company boards.
Dr. Kalniz holds a DDS and a BS in Business Administration, Economics from The Ohio State University.
Derek W. Tefft
Derek has over 25 years experience in healthcare finance and identifying and implementing risk mitigation strategies for large self-insured companies and group purchasing program(s). Derek has extensive experience in designing and implementing managed care networks across the United States and has created over 30 provider networks that represented more than $300 million in annual expenditures. Derek also has extensive experience in utilization review/case management, population health management, benefit plan design, claims processing and claim flow logistics.
Derek graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and Kent State University with a Master of Arts degree.
